The Tupolev Tu (Russian: Tyполев Ту; NATO reporting name: Charger) is a Soviet supersonic passenger airliner designed by Tupolev in operation from to The Tu was the world's first commercial supersonic transport aircraft with its prototype's maiden flight from Zhukovsky Airport on 31 December , three months before the British-French group: Tupolev OKB.

Excellent book on an ambitious project. The only quibble I have with this book is I would have liked a chapter on the engine. The only other ambitious book on the TU that was published in english I am aware of is; "Soviet SST: The Techno-Politics Of The Tupolev by Howard Moon" And that volume is pushing 20 years old/5(28). Regretfully, Gone Too Far isn’t the best candidate for a first time reader since so many past plot threads play such an integral role – the story could stand alone, I’m quite certain, but I don’t believe it would pack the same emotional wallop as it undoubtedly does to those of us who’ve followed the previous g: Tupolev.

A "Tupolev Too Far" is a somewhat uneven collection of late Aldiss stories. The title story is a crisply wrought counter-factual where its English protagonist from a world where the Russian revolution never happened stumbles into the late Soviet Union and has a sordid assignation/5(3).

A Tupolev Too Far - A man in a Tupolev flying to Moscow encounters a freak electrical storm that transports him to an alternative reality. One in which Moscow is not a bright new Paris ruled by Czar Nicholas III, but a dirty dystopian society ruled by some guy/5.

A Tupolev Too Far Publisher’s Blurb The twelve stories in this latest collection from Britain’s best-loved, most respected science fiction author assemble a mindscape of place as close as Prague, the Aswan Sheraton, an Oxford Garden where an orgy takes place, and Moscow; and as distant as the Afterworld, a cabbage planet, and the heart of our galaxy.

Thirteen fairly recent pieces, including a weird alphabet and an amusing introductory poem, from the British sf/fantasy grandmaster (previous collections include A Romance of the Equator and Man in his Time).

Here, two superb alternate-world yarns stand out: the hilariously ironic title piece—which moves from an opulent, advanced Russia that never was to a Russia that, all too grimly, still. Hi Jenny: I agree with you that that is exactly what Forrest was referring to when he said "it doesn't take a genius to know what they are talking about" -- the 10 miles mentioned in the Preface. There are a lot of searchers using that as their "Not far, but too far to walk," but I think that's g: Tupolev.
